BMU welcomes applications from a diverse range of candidates, including:

• University Students: Those who have successfully completed at least their first year of undergraduate study at a recognised university in Uzbekistan or abroad.
• Local and Private HEI Students: Applicants from Uzbek state or private higher education institutions, including those currently enrolled in Uzbek, Russian, or other non-English-medium programmes.
• English-Medium Students: Students from English-medium higher education institutions located in Uzbekistan or overseas.
• International School Graduates: Students from A-Level, IB, or other recognised 12-year international school routes.
• Second Degree Seekers: Applicants who already hold a higher education qualification and wish to study a second speciality or a second undergraduate programme at BMU.
• Advanced Entry Applicants: Individuals requesting entry into Year 3 or Year 4, which is treated as an exceptional case subject to rigorous academic mapping and formal approval.

 

Applicants must select the appropriate route based on their educational background. Please note that different procedures apply to each category:

• Transfer from another Higher Education Institution (HEI): Applicants must apply through the BMU admission system and simultaneously follow the official state transfer procedure where applicable. Proof of state platform submission may be required before a final offer is issued.
• Direct Entry from International Schools (A-Level/IB): This route is for students from recognised 12-year international school curricula. Applications are submitted exclusively through the BMU admission system, as this is not classified as a university transfer.
• Second Speciality / Second Undergraduate Programme: Candidates with a previous degree should apply via the BMU admission system. The University will determine the appropriate entry point (normally Year 2) following a review of prior academic documents.
• Year 3 / Year 4 Requests: Applicants seeking advanced standing must submit a full transcript and detailed module descriptors. These requests are treated as exceptional cases, require rigorous academic mapping, and are not guaranteed.

 

To be eligible for admission via the Transfer or Direct Entry routes, applicants must satisfy the following academic and personal criteria:

• Completed Study: Successful completion of at least the first year of undergraduate study at a recognised university, or possession of a recognised 12-year international school qualification (such as A-Level, IB, or an equivalent international curriculum).
• English Language Proficiency:
  • IELTS Academic: A minimum overall score of 6.0, with no individual component score below 5.5.
  • Aptis ESOL Advanced: Achievement of the BMU-approved C1 threshold.
  • Note: Applicants from English-medium institutions must provide official evidence of the language of instruction; however, this does not automatically waive the English language requirement.
• Mathematics Proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate their quantitative skills through one of the following:
  • A minimum score of 250 out of 300 in the BMU Math/ACCUPLACER exam.
  • A SAT Mathematics score of 570 or higher.
  • Evidence of successfully passing an acceptable first-year quantitative module at a recognised higher education institution.
• Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by 31 December in the year of registration for undergraduate degree-stage entry.

 

The University employs a rigorous and transparent review process to ensure all applicants meet the required academic standards:

• Assessment Framework: All applications are evaluated in accordance with the BMU Admissions Policy, the BMU Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) requirements, and specific Queen Margaret University (QMU) programme criteria.
• Independent Review Process: The BMU admission review is an independent process from the official state transfer procedure. Success on the state platform does not automatically guarantee admission to BMU, nor does it guarantee credit recognition or a specific year of entry.
• Year Placement: Most successful transfer applicants are admitted into Year 2, which marks the beginning of the QMU-validated undergraduate degree stage. Entry into Year 3 or Year 4 is treated as an exceptional "advanced-standing" case and requires a comprehensive academic mapping of previous studies.
• Appeals Procedure: If you disagree with the Admissions Committee's decision, you have the right to lodge a formal appeal via email to admissions@bmu-edu.uz within three working days of receiving the outcome. The University typically responds to such appeals within 5 to 15 working days.

 

Requests for admission directly into the third or fourth year are treated as exceptional advanced-standing cases and are subject to the following conditions:

• Academic Mapping: All such applications undergo a rigorous academic mapping process to ensure previous studies align with BMU and Queen Margaret University (QMU) programme requirements,.
• No Guarantee of Placement: Entry into Year 3 or Year 4 is not guaranteed. Following the review, the University may issue an offer for a lower year of study if the prior curriculum does not sufficiently meet the necessary academic thresholds.
• Formal Approval: Advanced entry requires formal institutional approval based on the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) framework,.
• Required Documentation for Review: To facilitate this assessment, applicants must submit:
  • A full academic transcript and an official grading scale.
  • Detailed module descriptions or syllabi for all completed subjects.
  • Specific information regarding credits and levels of study.
  • Any additional evidence requested by the BMU Admissions Committee to support the academic review.

General Requirements (All Applicants):

• Valid Passport or National ID card.
• Recent digital passport-style photograph.
• Medical certificate (Form 086).
• Official evidence of English language proficiency (e.g., IELTS or Aptis certificate).
• Evidence of mathematics proficiency (e.g., SAT scores or internal exam results).

 

Transfer Applicants from another University:

• Official academic transcript from your current or previous institution.
• Official confirmation of completed academic years or semesters.
• The university's official grading scale.
• A letter confirming the language of instruction (if your previous programme was taught in English).
• Proof of submission to the official state transfer platform (where applicable).

 

Year 3 and Year 4 Advanced Entry Requests:

• A full, detailed academic transcript.
• Comprehensive module descriptions or course syllabi for all completed subjects.
• Official information regarding academic credits and levels of study.
• Any additional evidence specifically requested by the BMU Admissions Committee.

 

International School Graduates (Direct Entry):

• Official certificates and transcripts for A-Level, IB, or your specific recognised 12-year curriculum.
• Evidence of meeting mathematics requirements.
• English language evidence or proof of an approved exemption.

 

Second Speciality / Second Degree Applicants:

• Diploma and full transcript from your previous higher education qualification.
• Detailed information regarding your previous degree programme.
• Any further documentation required for the academic review process.
